Battista, the producer wants to make a grand big budget film that celebrates adventure, excitement, spectacle, physicality. Is her love dying? He is supposed to direct an adaptation of The Odyssey, for which Ricardo Molteni would write the script.

Fortunately, It got me from page dr – now I am happy that this book let me enter the world of books. If it were that clear-cut the novel would cease to have its mystery. If Algerto would have had more time to resolve the basic conflict and predicament of his life with Emilia, it would have been best to divorce and focus his future life on what he really aspires to be, a novelist and serious author.
So begins the repeated mistakes of Molteni in dealing with his wife. He unknowingly devalues her worth, while seeking her love and admiration when they are revoked. And I realized that a man who is despised neither can nor ought to find peace as long as contempt endures. Therefore he is forced to write for the film industry and he dislikes that. I am not sure if Moravia is cracking a joke on the psychoanalysts or is he too far gone to actually start analyzing every tale with a parameter of human consciousness.

This really is a book to savour. She says to him: He believes this reason is trivial and maybe dishonest. For the same reason, it takes him many years to come home. Moravia was unable to give her one until after the war with the success of his novel, Woman of Rome La Romana.
